My Transition.

Tinto believes transition comes either during or after separation but before full adaptation. Many peoples experiences lead them to early failure but others lead them to a successful transitional experience. Tinto says transition is based on lifestyle and past experience. Anticipatory socialization is what usually lessens the stress of transitioning from high school to college.

Anticipatory socialization is what is helping me in my transition stage. I am currently still enrolled as a high school student but I am also in a parallel enrollment program at Dundalk community college(CCBC). When I enrolled in the program I had no clue what I was getting into. High school made it seem like the transition from high school to college would be easy. In all reality, it wad stressful and hard to overcome. Even though it was hard, the early college classes are what is going to help me easily transition from high school to being a fulltime college student. The program is helping me behavioral wise, get use to college. The transition also is based on my lifestyle at home and the people around me. Everyone on my mother side of the family went straight into a four year college. They always talked to me about how I am going to have to make college my first priority as soon a I enroll because it will be difficult. They have gone through applications with me and explained how size is a major issue.

Through the parallel enrollment program and my families precautions, my transition from high school to being a full time college student will be less stressful and I will over all be successful with my transition.

My transition from CCBC Dundalk to Towson Univeristy will be much easier than it would of been if i transitioned right from Dundalk High School. Collegeboard.com says that Towson is a public school and has 17,529 undergraduates. Transfering from CCBC to Towson will be much easier because I have experience the structure of not having a structured everyday class routine. I plan to live on campus which will help me transition a little bit better then travelling to college everyday from home. Ill be removing myself from the every day structure of living with my family and depending on them to help with everything. It will make me more independent.
